With mountains reaching 1,800 metres, the 155 sq. kilometres of wild terrain that is The Knuckles is a mesmerising habitat of forests, waterfalls, and rivers, shot through with walking tracks.  Home to many of the country’s endemic mammals and 17 of its endemic bird species, it is especially rich for its fauna – recording over 1,000 species.  It is named for a group of five particular mountains that resemble a clenched fist.
