 Staying at Flame Tree Estate was one our favourite things in our two weeks in Sri Lanka. This beautiful property is surrounded by the rainforest and it is just incredible to wake up to the sounds of nature and wild monkeys playing in the trees just outside our room. I had read lots of great reviews about this place so even though my expectations were high, we were totally blown away by this place. It is truly a gem.  A stay at Flame Tree Estate is definitely worthwhile and we can recommend it without reservation. Even though it is a bit far from Kandy, we would book it again anytime. The main house is so tastefully furnished and the entire complex invites you to switch off and relax. The owner is incredibly friendly and gave us some great tips. A true oasis of peace and class.  Everything was perfect. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly staff, who have a lot to tell you about Sri Lanka, its traditions and its herbs. The 5 playful and loving terriers were wonderful. Another highlight was the tour of the spice garden, where we were shown how cinnamon is produced. In addition, the entire property is beautifully furnished.  WOW! I have to say this is the most beautiful hotel I’ve EVER stayed in and I’ve stayed in a few!. The view from the pool just cannot be beaten, the sounds of the jungle are dreamy.  Home in the hills. The location overlooking the jungle is beautiful and the gardens are designed to make you feel that you are in a well-manicured part of it. The menu continues to grow and is now very flexible in its choices of local and international food. A great place to relax but also convenient for a visit to the sights of Kandy.  Where do I start…. This former plantation house is hidden from the road and set in 25 acres. When we drove up the lane I did think OMG what have I done as it’s very off beat…. But then we were blown away. Angelo and the team are just world class as nothing is too much. The food was incredible with a tasting menu each night.  This is an amazing place with outstanding facilities and service. The Flame Tree Estate & Hotel hotel is a heaven in the midst of nature. We had the most amazing stay at this place owned by two exceptional persons. The refined decoration, the warmth and the quietness make you feel home.
