 It's a piece of heaven tucked away outside Kandy. Overlooking the mountains and "jungle" is such a peaceful experience. The rooms are fantastic (with a four-poster bed), and the food for both breakfast and dinner is restaurant quality, with plenty of options. The staff are really professional, attentive and really helpful. We had a wonderful 4 nights, and probably the most memorable hotel we've ever stayed. One not to be missed. The rooms have been carefully decorated to retain the feel of a manor house. While it's a hotel, it feels much more like you're a guest in a friend's manor.  Heaven! This place is absolutely amazing. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was by far the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Throughout our stay, the service was outstanding. Our room was spacious, decorated with antique furniture and featured a secluded outdoor shower with a huge deck overlooking the jungle and sunset. The infinity pool was perfect with ample loungers.  A truly beautiful hotel with a view of nature and the sound of birdsong. The interior is impressive, the room very spacious and beautiful, the pool lovely, and everything very atmospheric.  Art and hospitality in a historic upcountry house. I have always wanted to stay in one of these restored country houses and I was delighted by Flame Tree. The beautiful decor and the art collection is worth the trip alone. Our room was gorgeous, and we went for a walk around the estate grounds. The set menu food is delicious, and we enjoyed it on the terrace as the monsoon rain poured. When the sun came out, the pool was exactly what we needed to relax with a king coconut. Una. It is completely serene and the whole estate feels of another time. Breakfast was delicious - so much choice - and the service was impeccable. The property itself is outstanding, full of art works and antiques, batiks, old photos, furniture and with library that has shelves and shelves of books. The outside terrace faces west with views across a valley to a small hill and forest. The outlook is framed by palm trees. There is a superb swimming pool to cool off.
