Cheap-as-chips taxi rates are found with the three online taxi companies operating in Sri Lanka: Pick Me, Uber, and Kangaroo Cabs.

 

Many travellers find that what they gain in price is sometimes offset by iterative booking procedures, hidden costs, limited actual availability, poor timekeeping, occasional questionable standards, and the odd destination deviation.

THE DRIVERS & TOUR GUIDES WE USE

 

To avoid the unexpected, and for our own travel purposes, we use only two local transport providers: Malchan de Silva and Malaka Nawarathne. 

​

Both drivers have been known to us personally for many years and have always provided an excellent service that is efficient, fair, and safe.

 

Both Malchan and Malaka speak good English, are courteous, transparent, and helpful, and have the required state and Tourism Board licenses and insurance.  Malka is based close by on the way to Kandy, and Malchan is located in our own village of Galagedera.

For drop-offs or pick-ups, they are punctual and reliable.  For tours, they have an excellent knowledge of the country and can help you shape itineraries that make the most of your time and interests.
